Meet Our Founding Director
Shanna Schwartz
Shanna Schwartz is an educational consultant with a deep commitment to collaboration and equity in literacy instruction. With over two decades of experience in literacy teaching and curriculum development, she partners with students, teachers, and administrators to create educational spaces where learners thrive and educators work together to make learning meaningful and personal.
Shanna stays current with evidence-based research to help educators navigate the often confusing, and sometimes conflicting, mandates and trends in education. Her goal is to ensure that classrooms are filled with high-quality, research-informed practices while always honoring the expertise of the educators in the room.
At the heart of Shanna’s work is the belief that powerful teaching begins with truly knowing students, not just as learners, but as whole people. She centers humanizing pedagogies in everything she does and encourages educators to keep students at the core of every instructional decision.
In addition to her work with schools across the United States and internationally, Shanna leads multi-day workshops on reading, writing, phonics, and executive functioning. She is the author of Making Your Teaching Stick and a coauthor of widely used, published curriculum materials in reading, writing, and phonics.
